Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Chupicuaro culture, ca. 300 BCE to 100 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of an impressive size with a flared rim, squat walls, and a shallow basin that are supported by a short foot. The burnished bowl is decorated with vermilion slip and then with yellow-white pigment that forms intricate triangular, stepped pyramid, and linear motifs. The foot is further decorated with petite triangular perforations, and the underside is unadorned.
