Roger Muhl (French, 1929-2008), untitled, ca. mid 20th century. An abstract oil on canvas board painting by mid-century French artist Roger Muhl, signed at the lower left, and set in a gold-tone frame. Though abstract, the image conjures a beautiful landscape or seascape with bright skies above. Muhl adored the South of France, largely due to the incredible light which casts a luminous quality on the landscape. He stated, "The light is my passion." Muhl studied painting at the National School of Decorative Arts and left for Paris in 1952. His first exhibition was at la Galerie de Paris in 1960. From there he went on to attain international success in London, New York, Milan, Tokyo, as well as Paris. Size: 10.625" W x 8.5" H (27 cm x 21.6 cm); 12" W x 10" H (30.5 cm x 25.4 cm) framed.
