DescriptionAttributed to Sir Godfrey Kneller (UNITED KINGDOM / ENGLAND / GERMANY, 1646 - 1723) large oil painting on canvas depicting the portrait of a child holding a puppy. Mounted in antique gold gilt wooden frame withmuseum name plaque to lower center. Canvas on stretcher measures approx. 39 7/8" height x 33 1/8" width (101.3cm x 84.1cm). Measures approx. 45 3/4" height x 38 1/4" width (12cm x 97.2cm) overall including frame.Provenance: Originally the property of the Cooke family estate in London, England. Probably imported to the United States Circa early 18th century and frame bears old gummed label to the side reads "Mrs. Warde,Daughter of Dr. John Coke" in Old English script. Circa the 1940's the painting was acquired by antique dealer Lynwood Drake in Richmond, Virginia. Circa the 1980's Mr. Drake had the painting re-lined, put on a new stretcher and cleaned. Currently the property of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida collection of Mr. Walter Greenwood. Extensive records were kept on this work and includes a portfolio with all of the records
