Description Four (4) Lila Moore Keen (Georgia/Ohio, 1903-1963) watercolor on paper paintings of flowers including two (2) white magnolias, one (1) yellow and white magnolia, and one (1) red camellia. All signed in the lower quadrants and housed and matted under glass in gilt wood frames. Sights range in size from 14 5/8" H x 10 5/8" W to 24 3/8" H x 20" W. Frames range in size from 24 3/8" H x 19 3/4" W to 34 3/8" H x 29 3/8" W. Early/mid 20th century. Provenance: The collection of Dr. William Kendall Striker, Chattanooga, TN. Biography: A native of Cleveland, Georgia, Lila Keen was called the lady of the Camellias for her prize-winning paintings of camellias paintings and other flowers including magnolias. Some were selected for the covers of national flower publications. She also painted portraits. Keen studied at Agnes Scott College and with Wayman Adams. Her works were exhibited throughout the Southeast and at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and she was honored by the American Camellia Society.
Condition Report Overall good condition with toning. All with foxing spots, largest 3/4", especially to largest white magnolia painting.
