A George III mahogany eight-day longcase clock by Ellicott, the hood of pagoda shape with two urn finials, with shaped foliate fretwork decoration backed with red paper above arched glazed door, flanked by brass capital stop fluted columns, the trunk with shaped door flanked by quarter columns over a reduced plinth base, with tall moulded double skirt incorporating squat bracket feet with shaped apron, the brass break-arch dial with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture to the matted centre within applied Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes to outer track, signed Ellicott, London to lower margin, with fine pierced blued steel hands and rococo cast spandrels to angles beneath subsidiary strike/silent selection dial flanked by conforming mounts to arch, the movement with rack and bell striking, 244cm highthere are two large splits to the back of the case, one with signs of a butterfly joint repair, probably reduction in the size of the plinth, there is general overall wear to the plinth, scuff etc, the metal work is fairly dull, overall this clock requires some attention to bring it to a good state of repair. There are weights and a pendulum.
