A Neo-Renaissance gem-set necklace, by Hermann B?hm, circa 1870
Of openwork form, designed as a series of scalloped-links leading to a pendant with foliate motifs and scrolling detail, terminating with a tassel drop, set throughout with vari-cut green and red pastes, issuing baroque and seed pearl accents, both sides decorated with polychrome enamel, the clasp similarly-set via a later cultured pearl backchain, foiled and closed-back settings throughout, mounted in silver, baroque and seed pearls untested, some later imitation pearl replacements, one pearl deficient, some enamel losses, maker's mark HB, Austro-Hungarian assay marks, length 43.5cm
