Herman Moll : The World Described; or, a New and Correct Sett of Maps, C.1730.
Tall leather bound folio, 65 x 30cm, re-cased but with the panelled leather of the original binding laid on.
As is usually the case, a conventional Title page is not present and is represented by a trimmed publisher’s broadside pasted on the front paste-down endpaper.
31 Folding maps, hand coloured in outline together with a folding Astronomical Chart. Many of the maps are particularly celebrated because of the additional information Moll provided either in the form of information about physical features of the countries and significant products, engraved vignettes of the inhabitants and their activities, major cities, ports and physical features, animals new to contemporary science etc together with other features, including comments about the cartographic productions of his competitors in the field.
