A PAIR OF CANTON ENAMEL PLATES WITH COURT SCENES, QING
China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The enameled copper plates with rounded sides showing court scenes with dignitaries and attendants in garden landscapes with pine and other trees as well as craggy rocks. Hallmarks to the undersides. (2)
Condition: Heavily damaged and restored.
Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo- Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Old merchant labels to the undersides. (2)
