ORNAMENTAL JADE DISK WITH FEMALE DANCER, EARLY 20th CENTURY
China, late Qing dynasty to early Republic period. Depicted in the central opening of this huan-disk is the well-known “dance with the long sleeves”, the changxiuwu. The surface surrounding the opening features very finely crafted relief depicting winding, closely packed dragons on both sides of the disk. The entire outer edge is ribbed. White jade with yellow shadings when backlit.
Condition: Very good condition.
Provenance: From an important Austrian jade collection.
