Description
A JADE HUAN WITH DRAGON, REPUBLIC
China, 20th century. Rare, “radiant”, white jade with very good translucence. A bi-disk with a large inner opening, a huan, with an in-ground relief of knobs (guwen) with “spirals” on both sides. Inside the inner opening is a chilong, curled like a snake, its tail split. On the disk is a larger dragon with scales. The jade is slightly reddened due to its iron content.
Condition: Very good condition.
Provenance: From an important Austrian jade collection.
