A FENG SHUI COMPASS, QING
China, 1880-1920. The luopan or geomantic compass is a Chinese magnetic compass, also known as a Feng Shui compass. It is used by a Feng Shui practitioner to determine the precise direction of a structure or other item.
Condition: Some wear and traces of use. Glass and compass needle lost.
Provenance: From the collection of Alexander Popov in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbia, acquired between 1900-1920.
Weight: 190.1 grams (the compass) and 306.8 grams (the box).
Dimensions: 19.2 cm diameter (the compass) and 21.2 cm diameter (the box).
Painted in fine lacquer. The backside signed Lin Wenming zao in red lacquer. Original box. (2)
