A ‘SCHOLARS’ PAINTING, LATER QING
China, later Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The scene shows a scholar seated at a table, showing various scholar’s items such as scrolls, an inkstone, and an ivory ruler, in front of a large audience, two women bringing refreshments. Watercolors and ink on silk, framed behind glass.
Condition: The painting in excellent condition with some wear, soiling and minimal creasing.
Provenance: From the collection of Alexander Popov in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbia, acquired between 1900-1920.
