A MASSIVE CAST BRONZE LID FOR A CENSER WITH A BUDDHIST LION, MING
China, 1368-1644. The pierced cast bronze censer lid is topped by a large and fierce Buddhist lion with a brocade ball. Old collector’s label on the interior.
Condition: Minor losses and casting flaws, traces of gilding.
Provenance: From the collection of Alexander Popov in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbia, acquired between 1900- 1920.
