Farmers' children, 1941. ?Oil on paper on cardboard. ?Monogrammed and dated upper right: W 41. ?54.5 x 37 cm. ? ?Provenance: ?- Estate Dino Comuzzi, Switzerland ?- Swiss private collection ? ?Max Weiler, born in Hall in Tirol, is considered one of the most important representatives of Austrian painting in the late 20th century. His style is assigned to a specific Austrian form of international modernism. After attending the painting school Toni Kirchmayr and completing an art study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he worked as a professor of painting at the Vienna Academy himself. During his studies Weiler was inspired by ancient Chinese landscape painting of the Sung Dynasty due to his interest in the Chinese ideology of the world and nature, which accompanied him throughout his life. Nach Besuch der Malschule Toni Kirchmayr und dem Abschluss eines Kunststudiums an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien unterrichtete er selbst als Professor für Malerei an der Wiener Akademie. W?hrend seiner Studienzeit lie? sich Weiler durch sein Interesse am chinesischen Welt- und Naturverst?ndnis von der altchinesischen Landschaftsmalerei der Sung-Dynastie inspirieren, die ihn in seinen Werken ein Leben lang begleitete.
