RAY, MAN (1890 - 1976)Figure from Les anatomes. ?Colour aquatint on paper. ?Numbered and signed: 17/100 Man Ray. ?42.5 x 31.5 cm. ? ?Provenance: Swiss private collection. ? ?Man Ray, originally Emmanuel Rudnitzky, was a famous American photographer, director and artist with Russian-Jewish roots. Due to the variability and complexity of his works, he is considered a representative of modernity, but has influenced the Dadaism and Surrealism as well. In 1912, Ray attended courses at the Modern School of New York's Ferrer Center, a liberal-anarchist school with unconventional and liberal beliefs that had a decisive influence on the artist's development. Aufgrund der Variabilit?t und Vielschichtigkeit seiner Werke gilt er als Vertreter der Moderne, hat jedoch den Dadaismus und Surrealismus eingehend mitgepr?gt. 1912 belegte Ray Kurse an der Modern School of New Yorks Ferrer Center, einer liberal-anarchisch orientierten Schule mit unkonventionellen und freiheitlichen überzeugungen, die den Werdegang des Künstlers entscheidende beeinflusste.
