Pietro Massa was the leading practitioner of the Chinoiserie decorated interiors working in Turin during the second quarter of the 18th century. Massas most famous surviving works include the painted decoration of the Villa Regina in Turin, (1732 -1735); the doors and dado panels of the Galleria delle Battaglie in the Palazzo Reale, Turin (1744), and the paneling of the Gabinetto Cinese in the Palazzo Graneri, Turin, (c.1740-1750).A closely related commode was sold from the Collection of William M.
