ProvenanceBy repute the present lot previously had a paper label applied to it which stated that this table came from Claremont originally. Claremont was built between 1770 and 1774 for Lord Clive by Capability Brown. H.R.H. Princess Helen (d. 1922), Duchess of Albany was married to H.R.H. Prince Leopold (d. 1884), Duke of Albany, youngest son of Queen Victoria, and they occupied Claremont from 1882. In fact the Duchess continued to live at Claremont until 1922.
