ProvenanceThe offered lot originally formed part of the furnishings inside a drawing room at the Bolognese Palazzo of Count Squarzoni. Please see an old photo showing the display cabinet 'in situ' there.The heraldic device painted within the cartouche panel surmounting the centre of the present cabinet refers to either Hercules and the Nemean lion or Samson, who is likewise famed for killing a lion with his bare hands.
