Pair of, Daoguang Period, scalloped blue and white dishes have the same shape, size and decoration with slight variations. both scalloped dish is rectangular in shape and has a stout oval shaped foot. It’s outer walls are fluted and painted blue. The center well and interior wall are covered in a single blue and white illustration. It features a beards man who stands adjacent to the side of a house and looks towards a younger male figure who appears to hold a plant. This younger figure appears somewhat distraught in the presence of the older man, The underside has four markings done in blue ink. D: 6.3 by 1.4 in (16 by 3.45 cm)
2- This plate varies slightly from the first. It has the same foot, outer walls, underside, and it’s illustration is quite similar as well. It too features an older and younger man, both of which have the same attributes, however some details in the background contrast from the first plate. The window seen behind the older man has a different covering and the plants that can be seen behind the younger are taller and one is dead. D: 6 1/4" x 4 3/4" (16 cm x 12 cm)
