CHINESE SCHOOL, C19th. SEVEN WATERCOLOURS ON VEGETABLE PAPER.
This type of painting proliferated around the end of the C19th-early C20th as pieces destined for export. Their central themes represented Chinese traditions such as capital punishments, animals. flowers or boarding local ships. They became very sought after by travellers visiting Asia. The museum in Zaragoza has many excellent examples of the different social groups. There are some minor rust stains & some tears in the paper. They are framed and glazed.
