(oval) Provenance: According to a label affixed to the reverse, the picture was never out of the sitter's possession until death, when it devolved to his widow, who left it to her great nephew Charles W Rawdon and he subsequently left it to his widow, Emma Rawdon. Thomas Dawson was elevated to the peerage of Ireland as May 28th 1770 as Baron Dartrey; elevated to dignity of Viscount June 9th 1785. See illustration
