Notes: Marguerite Gery-Galy, a woman artist of the early 20th century, successfully exhibited throughout the major salons and exhibitions of France for nearly 50 years. Born in Bordeaux, she appears in a 1921 exhibition listing in the region, before emerging on the Parisian art scene where she studied under Post-Impressionist Leon Felix and Henri Morisset. She debuted at the Paris Salon in 1928 and exhibited almost annually through 1969. The painting offered here is one of the many successful entries accepted by the discerning Salon of 1932.
