19th C. Chinese Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Imperial ChaoZhu pearl beads court necklace; Consisting of 108 pearl beads, typical bead diameter, bead hole diameter and age wear for old court necklaces. Pearl beads separated by four Buddha's head beads of Aquamarine, each flanked by Lapis-lazuli beads. The 3 holed Buddha's head bead (Fotou) with aquamarine gourd shaped bead extends to a yellow silk ribbon with central aquamarine BeiYun (back cloud) piece, the yellow ribbon continues upon termination with a teardrop aquamarine bead, with kingfisher feather bead cap. 3 jintian strings of 10 aquamarine beads on each string, each terminating with a filigree capped aquamarine teardrop bead. Necklace is further embellished with seed pearls in middle of the 3 strings of 10 beads and slightly larger seed pearls in rows of 3 above the 3 teardrop beads, this kind of embellishments were only seen on imperial examples. Necklace is strung correctly with yellow silk and with wire wrapped in silk embellishing the correct areas. All the materials in this necklace were restricted to be used on imperial family pieces as stated in the rules and regulations of the Qing Dynasty.
