Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli Wucai glazed dragons porcelain lidded box. Lidded trinket box cast into shaped rectangle body, thick potted, slight dome rim straight to wide opening rectangle, Flange circumscribed around the containers lip allows for a perfect fitment of the covering with grayish creme-brown thick rings lines on the each rim. All reserved in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the Wucai design color. The dome lid and the lower body adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-Shui waves in a blue and red color dragon squama surrounded the bowl chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
