Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue & white duck pond porcelain jar. The porcelain potted in jar shape, having a thick potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, ovoid belly on middle gently tapered on shoulder toward prominent, with short neck opening, and raised on small round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrasts against the cobalt blue fine color. The main body decorated with duck swims on the pond among water plants, below scrolling ruyi and vapor, enclosed with repeating taotie mask. The neck festooned with scrolling tendril. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
