The Under-base bears a reign mark, a two row vertical of six underglaze blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double rectangular frame borders, Made In The Years of Jiajing Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
Superb, Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing green Dragons over famille jaune porcelain square jar. The square baluster jar has a tall feminine silhouette with broad belly, slightly short straight square opening and a body that either tapers toward the base, raised with slightly short square foot base rim. All reserved in famille jaune underglaze base color which contrast against the fresh green fine color. Meaning the "yellow family". This is a variant of the famille verte enamel palette in which the ground is covered with yellow enamel. The each part main body adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above ruyi clouds in a deep green color dragon squama surrounded the bowl chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. The shoulder festooned with repeating interlocking taotie mask, enclosed with double fine dark green rings lines. The neck decorated with repeating key fret, enclosed with double fine dark green rings lines. And the foot base decorated with rectangle geometric pattern, enclosed with double fine dark green rings lines. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
