658 gramsSeated in lotus pose in flowy robes and scarfs, the Buddha is in meditative pose called dhyanasana on a double reverse lotus base with beaded rim, the ends of the scarfs hanging over the lotus throne in the front. His face is broad and expression stern with eyes downcast. He is wearing extensive jewellery with decorative stone inlay in two colours. From the back the thin hairlines are visible, a diamond finial in the centre of the head. A very delicate piece of work which emanates the Buddha's grandeur.Provenance: Collection Sharpes, Strasbourg , acquired 1998 in New York , original invoice available
