A RARE AND LARGE LATE 19TH CENTURY SWISS INTERCHANGABLE MUSICAL BOX ON ORIGINAL STAND BY MOJON MANGER, GENEVA the burr walnut, ebonised and yew case of typical rectangular form with ornate foliage gilt bronze handles to the sides and mother of pearl inlay to the top of the box, the lid opening to reveal a large musical cylinder beneath a glazed dust cover, the one piece comb with zither attachment, stamped MMC 912, raised on a table stand of rectangular form on four tapering, ringed and ebonised legs, with a wavy apron below a frieze drawer, the drawer containing a further changable cylinder, the music box 88cm wide x 36cm deep x 25cm high, the stand 118cm high, 63cm deep x 75cm high, 100cm high overall The box is playing but not fully tested or guaranteed. A further music box by Mojon Manger is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Inv. no. W.141-1975.
