A LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH BLACK MARBLE, GILT BRONZE MOUNTED AND SPELTER FIGURAL MYSTERY CLOCK ATTRIBUTED TO GUILMET the case with lion mask swing handles to the sides and engraved with stylised foliage, on paw feet, surmounted by a spelter figure of the goddess Ceres holding a bunch of fruit and numbered 367, her right arm raised and holding the ornate pendulum with glass bob, the dial with gilt Roman numerals, signed for the retailer 'Peche A Nantes', the twin barrel movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, activated by the central rod attached to the figure above, 61cm high The clock is working but not fully tested or guaranteed.Footnote: Case - the spelter figure has typical wear to the surface patination, some old marks and spotting, the gilded areas are rubbed. The rod in her right hand has a screw protruding which presumably would have had some sort of finial on. Marble - some nibbles to the front left corner edge, and some a couple of minor chips. Very minor surface scratch to the glass of the pendulum bob. Dial - good condition, gilt signature is worn. Movement is running but not fully tested or guaranteed.
