n unusual mid 18th Century gilt metal box fitted with a champleve dial watch. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Wound through the signed gilt champleve dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Rectangular gilt metal box, the shaped sides of engraved repousse work representing woven wicker work. The chased and engraved repousse lid with a classical scene. Opening the lid reveals the dial of the watch. This in turn can be opened to access the compartment of the box.
