Description A beautiful matted hand-embroidered silk panel from 1920-30 with a large bold blue flower in the center is surrounded by mysterious bats from two corners and floral designs. Further encased by geometrical designs. The Panel is seated on a black silk background with geometrical and floral designs. Ca. 1920's/30's. Size: 15 X 15 in. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
