He gives acerbic views of the people of Buffalo, the ladies of "cold expression"; the people at the theatre "in the pit...indulge in this constant perpetration of jeers, shouts and bellowing which would do credit to a wild beast establishment at feeding time"; comments on trade; compares Buffalo with Toronto and comments on what he considers is a high amount of crime detailed in the newspaper.
