Description A Chinese red agate snuff bottle dating from the 18th century. The snuff bottle is carved with stylized phoenixes on the front and back and guardian lion heads holding engaged rings on the sides. Dimensions are: 1 5/8 inches tall X 1 1/4 inches wide, 4.1 cm tall X 3.2 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition Report There are 2 small chips to the base.
Provenance From Mrs. Fullerton in New Jersey. Her father, Maurice Etangs was chief of police in Tianjin, China and lived there from 1935 to 1945. These items were collected during those times.
