Oval section, flat foot, hollow underneath, and flat lip. Cut from a bamboo wood. It is carved with a continuous decoration in various reliefs around its circumference. It shows riders galloping on the one hand, and on the other, a scene of three wise men seeming to play mahjong around a table (short crack at the lip).

Note: A beautiful handmade work, work of a quality artist, made at the beginning of the 20th century by an unidentified artist after a famous work by Wu Zhifan, one of the greatest masters of bamboo carving. The work in question is kept in the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City in Beijing / Beijing, China. The scene described is entitled: "The Announcement of Victory at Dongshan in the Battle of Feishui", which took place in 383 during the Eastern Jin.
