CARVED INDIGENOUS WOOD KORAN HOLDER
Possible work from North India around 1900
Foldable and unfoldable. It is carved in hollow of a covering decoration putting in scene dragons coiled and confronted between the bodies of which are laid out rosettes and ideograms Shu / Longevity (top piercings can be of origin, wormholes, wears).
H: 69 cm - H (unfolded): 60 cm
Note: One will note the astonishing presence of Chinese ideograms, hopefully Shou characters. Note however that some of them are not finished, which leads us to believe that they were used as simple motifs.
