Bellied vase in smoked glass with decoration in the form of stylised tropical fish. Short neck with a flared, disc-shaped rim. The base with the hand-engraved signature "R. Lalique, France" and the model number "1011". Height 26 cm.
In excellent, undamaged condition.
René Lalique (1860 - 1945) is regarded as one of the most famous glass artists of the Art Deco or Art Nouveau style in France. His workshop supplied the Orient Express, the Pullman trains of the CIWL and various ocean-going passenger ships, among others.
