An Indian bronze shield-form plaque depicting Virabhadra
18th/19th century or earlier
Of a compressed rectangular form with its long sides sloping inward, cast in high relief depicting the warrior manifestation of Shiva beneath a lobed arch bearing bow, arrow, sword and shield, with three figures including the goat-headed Daksha and his daughter Sati, wife of Shiva, at his feet, applied handle verso.
