19th c. Chinese Imperial blue chifu or formal court robe. Blue silk embroidered in gilt thread with nine dragons indicating the wearer was an official of the first second or third rank. Midnight blue lower sleeves cuffs and collar also with gilt embroidery. The cuffs are lined with pale blue silk. The robe is fastened with five gilt buttons.
