PAIR OF CHINA PLATES FROM THE COMPAGNIE DES INDES
China, Qing Dynasty, 18th century
Hexagonal, they are adorned in a rich polychrome enamel palette of the Rose Family with a Mandarin-style décor of characters, one of whom is holding a bird in his hands. Around it, a lake with erected banks of weeping willows and a fence, a pavilion, rocks and pine trees, medallions with landscapes (tiny splinters on the lips of both, gilding faded in places).
