BIRDCAGE IN WOOD AND LACQUERED BAMBOO
China, Late Qing Dynasty, circa 1900
Circular, with wood core and multiple lacquered bamboo stems. It rests on four stepped legs and is topped by a copper plate with four dragons with four claws from which emanate four rods, which join together to form a suspension hook. A small circular opening at the front allows the bird to be introduced or a finger to pass through. On the opposite side, a sliding door rises up, creating a large quadrangular opening. Two porcelain troughs present in its interior (both damaged).
H: 32 cm - D: 33 cm
