PALACES PAVILIONS AND GARDENS BUILT BY GIUSEPPE CASTIGLIONE IN THE IMPERIAL DOMAIN OF THE MING YUAN AT THE BEIJING SUMMER PALACE
A complete suite of twenty modern printed and coloured / watercoloured plates. The original plates were made by Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766), known as Lang Shining, between 1783 and 1786. They show the buildings and gardens of the Summer Palace (Yuan Ming Yuan) in Beijing commissioned by Emperor Qianlong.
This is an original colorization - the result of a real work of reflection and recreation - made from reproductions of the publication of the Jardins de Flore in 1977. Under the artist's brushstrokes, the buildings of the Summer Palace seem to come back to life.
Dimensions (the folio holder): 60 x 94.5 cm
