South China or Vietnam, possibly 16th centuryThe exterior painted in the Kraak style in copper pigment with bird-and-flower cartouches amidst wan brocade and scaly pattern bands above a continuous scene of birds alighting above flowering peonies, the interior with a wide scrolling floral band on hatched pattern, the pigment fired a deep red and acidic green, all on a creamy crackled glaze. 35cm (13 3/4in) diam.
