Antique Circa 1920 Bronze Statue "The Horse Tamer", Signed by Nicolas Coustou (French Artist) Very Detailed Work w. Reins Bit & Stick on a Base
The original pair of Marly Horses were of marble & commissioned in 1739 for the horse pond in the gardens of the Chateau de Marly. They were installed in 1745. In 1749, they were moved to Paris & placed on high pedestals at the bottom of the Champs-Elysees. In 1894 they were moved to the Louve to save them from the elements. Signed Cousou at base by tail. Late 19th century.
