A Chinese white jade rectangular plaque dating from the 18th century. The front of the plaque features a landscape scene with a scholar and attendant feeding ducks under a pine tree; the other side features an inscription and 2 seals. The border of the plaque features a double dragon. Dimensions: 2 3/4 inches tall X 2 inches wide; 7 cm tall X 5.1 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition Report Overall good condition with 1 small chip to the edge.
Literature A similar white jade pendant plaque from the 18th-early 19th century sold as Lot 1163 at Christie's New York on September 19, 2013. Another white jade pendant plaque sold as Lot 1164 in the same sale.
Provenance From Mrs. Hillebrand in Chicago. Her father-in-law purchased these items in China and Hong Kong between 1935 and 1970. Lot 79-90 from our March 14, 2019 auction were from the same collection.
