A Chinese Zitan scholars box dating from the 17th to the 18th century. The box features 4 parts and comes with a wooden handle, the corners of each part have metal covering and it includes a pin closure at the top of the box through the handle. Dimensions: 10 inches tall X 14 inches wide X 7 1/2 inches deep; 25.4 cm tall X 35.6 cm wide X 19.1 cm deep. All measurements are approximate.
Condition Report Minor cracking to the wood; loose metal covering; some areas of loss to both wood and metal.
Literature A zitan carry box from the late Ming or early Qing Dynasty sold as Lot 116 at Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 6, 2016.
