A SMALL 'GUAN'-TYPE FACETED HU-FORM VASE
Qianlong sealmark and of the periodOf rectangular section with canted corners, the pear-shaped body, rising from a short slightly tapered foot to a wide mouth, flanked by a pair of tubular handles, applied overall with a thick pale gray glaze suffused with a dark gray crackle, the unglazed bottom of the footring dressed with iron over the pale gray body, the foot inscribed with the six-character seal mark in underglaze blue. 5 3/4in (14.6cm) high

The present example is covered with a thick, pale-gray crackled glaze and dressed brown on the bottom of the foot pad in order to imitate Song Guan wares.A similar Qianlong mark and period vase in the collection of the National Palace Museum is illustrated in Qing Monochrome Porcelain, Taipei, 1981, cat. no. 89; and another is illustrated by John Ayers, The Baur Collection, Geneva, vol. III, 1972, no. A344. Another Qianlong mark and period example of identical size was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 November 2011, lot 3317, and another at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 06 April 2016, lot 3638.
