Description Japanese Imari Charger
Early 20th Century
The large basin type charger with a flat base and steep sides, painted on the interior with shaped cartouches of Chinese boys in various pursuits all before another shaped cartouche of a white scaled dragon, on a field of blossoming scrolling stylized flowerheads, the sides with winged dragons and fish above rolling waves, rockwork and pearls, the exterior with further winged fish and dragons above diaper and floral pattern blocks,
the unglazed base with iron red inscription, possibly Fukagawa. Diameter 20 inches.
