A SANCAI GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF GUANYIN
Ming dynastyThe seated Bodhisattva crisply rendered in dhyanasana posture above a double lotus plinth, holding her hands in the varada and abhaya mudras of bestowal and reassurance, attired in flowing royal raiment adorned in an Amitabha-centered crown, supporting a ewer and a small bird at each shoulder; all exterior surfaces covered in a thin glaze tinted in su sancai shades of cream, brown, green and black. 19 1/2in (49.6cm) high
注脚
Though the iconography and posture of this lot is relatively common, (see the very similarly rendered Ming bronze offered as lot 190 in our New Bond Street sale 17859 of 11 November 2010) the medium of glazed pottery is rarer for this type of figure. A possibly analogous example would be the 'Statue de Guanyin en Terre Cuite' offered as lot 119 in Christie's Paris sale of 16 October 2013 'Le Cabinet de Curiosites de Jacques et Galila Hollander.'
