Quan Chet Mien priesta??s vestment, cotton with silk embroidery featuring dragons, depictions of the gentle chia??ilin, butterflies, heavenly bodies and waves,Vietnam, early 20th century. Size: 37.5'' x 25.5'' (95 x 65 cm). Tua sai (to sai) level priestsa?? chasubles from Vietnam are quite different from those of other areas of Southeast Asia and China because of their long flared vest shape which went over the head, with front and back panels thinly connected on the sides by sewn strips of cotton cloth. The vestment served to distinguish and elevate the priest. Reference: Diep Trung Binh, Patterns on Textiles of the Ethnic Groups in Northeast of Vietnam; Jess G.
