A carved schist frieze fragment with facing figure of Buddha kneeling within a frame flanked by nimbate devotees; above, two flying devas (vidyadhara) grasping stones, assisted by two standing nimbate figures; to the base, two advancing beasts. 7.5 kg, 42cm (16 1/2"). Property of a Middlesex collector; acquired on the London art market before 2000; formerly in an old English collection. Fine condition.
